Well, I'm going cold turkey after I finish this pack. No patches, no pills, no program, just no more cigs. One last pack, I will miss it. I've been a pack a day (Marlboro 100's reds) for about 5 years (short from some smokers perspectives, way too long for others peoples). The point of this thread will be just me updating and getting things off my chest as it happens, and just a record of it.

Before I start, if anybody wants to give me any helpful advice it would be appreciated. I know there are many places to google for it, but it would be cool hearing from a gamblers perspective (as there is nothing better than a smoke after a huge victory, and even a huge loss..well shit everything inbetween as well).

I already quit coffee recently, and the headaches of withdrawal because the two go hand in hand for me. I'm not going to drink either for a couple weeks after my last cigerette, as they go hand in hand as well. We'll see how it goes and I'll be completely honest if I fail or cheat.

I'll post after my last smoke, probably tomorrow morning.

Best of luck. I have never smoked, but my Dad has for my entire life. He has struggled many times trying to quit. Not an easy thing to do, but I do wish you success.

Thanks for the wish. I understand it's not easy, my Mom has been smoking for 30 years and hasn't been able to quit. A couple years ago she had extensive tests done and the doctor said she has the lungs of a teenager (a good thing). This is an excuse I've pounded in my brain to justify smoking for even longer (VERY stupid of me), but I know that is a miracle and I'm killing myself.

I've done some research and everywhere I go I see Cold Turkey is the best way (even though no way is easy at all) and the first 3 days are the hardest. I've cleared out my weekend of obligations as I know this will be a hard few days and I'll be in a very shitty mood.

its not that hard and mostly mental. check yourself at the door pal and you should be ok.

Thanks for the words, Man.

I'm really wondering how I'm going to adapt, but to be honest I can't wait to start. I'm smoking this last pack faster than I've ever smoked a pack. Next step is to throw away all the shit from my smoking porch, including the chairs. No reason to see that same lame view again.

Care to elaborate on this 10 day cleanse? That sounds refreshing. Is that like that Herbal tea you drink that makes you shit out gook from your body? I might want to do something like that.

I'm just going to straight up do it. My girlfriend asked me what my punishment should be if I cheat or give up (like no more blowjobs for a month type of thing) and I said fuck that, the punishment is death. Let's do this, it's not the same anymore.

I love that shit dude. In all sincerity, thank you. This guy knows how to motivate a red blooded man, a little challenge.

It's going to be hard, we'll see.

I have 7 more cigs left in my last pack. I am really stalling here, taking them really slowly now as compared to yesterday. It's going to be like losing a friend, I mean shit every day for 5 years. They'll be all gone later tonight, I'll post after my last smoke. Thanks for the luck Dante/Viejo.

Good luck quitting!!! Getting ready to make a run myself my son will be born in the beginning of may and I would like to quit before he is born. Been thinking about quitting for awhile now but he will be the motivator. Plus im sick of hacking up a lung in the morning such a disgusting habit but for some reason I love it. Good luck to you and will be around monitoring your progress.

Well, it's nearly 3 in the morning and I just had (presumably) my last smoke. I went off in a hail of corona, miller light, and a heavy dosage of Tool. Lateralus accompanying my last cig. I'm obviously going to sleep now, as I am wasted. The battle will begin tomorrow.

The problem is you didnt get drunk enough last night usually if I get wasted I wont smoke the next day. But it has to be a crippler hangover. Hang in there buddy you can do it. I'll be getting on the train soon enough here.

Alright well, I said I would fess up if I failed or cheated and I did. I didn't even complete one full day. I was about halfway through day one and couldn't get them off my mind. Then I remembered I had a pack I kept in my glove compartment of my truck for emergencies. I could not stop thinking about it. I grabbed the pack and was going to throw it away but thought a couple drags wouldn't hurt. Cheat #1. Then I smoked the entire cig and after that it was all on.

I'm going to try again on Monday when I'm more busy through out the day. I have way too much free time on the weekends. I just need to get through 3 full days (or so I'm told) and then it's smoother sailing.

Fuck, I'm a *****. Not even a full day. Shit is hard.

Thanks Viejo, hopefully I'll live up to the support.

I just need to fucking man up here. This smoking shit is so lame now. Makes me angry.

If I increase on the weed while I quit cigs, is that counterproductive?
